Jessica Yang, MSL | Program Driector

As a Hmong-American with a dual identity, I have a unique perspective on life. Despite facing challenges navigating systems that were not designed for people like me, I've flourished as a first-generation graduate and third-generation American. With a Master's in the Study of Law and a concentration in Social Justice, I've dedicated my life to advocating for those who need it most through a legal and culturally sensitive lens.

I have provided advocacy services in various settings, including housing clinics, housing court, domestic violence, education, and disability services.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my families, partner, two small dogs, dancing, playing golf, and playing Hmong Women's Flag Football.

Let's work together to help you shine and find a place that you can call home.

Growing up in a traditional Hmong family as a Hmong American woman, I was taught the importance of taking on responsibilities such as cleaning and cooking in preparation for my role as a traditional daughter. This upbringing has provided me with unique perspectives and insights that enable me to deeply connect with others. Whether it be through my writing or engaging in meaningful conversations, I possess the ability to adapt and identify the programs and resources that are available to each individual.

In late 2017, I was pregnant with my son while also serving as a PCA for my 7-year-old autistic cousin. It was during this time that I noticed distinct characteristics in my cousin. After giving birth to my son and observing his interactions with my autistic cousin when he turned 3 years old, I recognized symptoms and signs of autism in him as well. Drawing from my experience as a PCA for autistic children, I was able to analyze and evaluate his need for an autism assessment.

In 2019, my son was diagnosed with Pervasive Global Development Delay, a diagnosis that I initially struggled to comprehend. To better understand my child's condition, I conducted research and came across the CSG program. Additionally, the doctor provided me with valuable resources that further expanded my knowledge. It is through these experiences that my expertise in working with children with disabilities, including autism, cognitive dysfunction, and bipolar disorder, has developed. My passion lies in utilizing my skills to assist individuals with autism by providing them with the necessary tools and resources to navigate their journey towards a successful life.

When you choose to work with me, you can expect unwavering dedication, resourcefulness, and a commitment to finding the best solution tailored to your needs. I am determined to make a positive impact and ensure that you receive the appropriate assistance you deserve. So, if you are seeking inspiration, guidance, or simply someone who can relate to your experiences on a personal level, look no further.

I am a mother who finds joy in crafting, freelance graphic design, and exploring the great outdoors through activities like hiking and fishing. Singing and solving puzzles are my favorite pastimes during my leisure hours. However, my true passion lies in participating in Hmong women's flag football and promoting body positivity through modeling.
